Emiliana Torrini – Rarities (CD2)

| On 20, Sep 2010

Part two of Emiliana Torrini further continuation of beautiful synthesised lady pop. Starting off with the video version track of ‘Easy’, I found myself singing along to the catchy contagious chorus, and swaying from side to side, over taken by its movable melody. This theme of music indulgence was further enhanced and continued by the next track; ‘Unemployed in Summertime – Tore Johansson Mix’, where Emiliana’s beautiful summery vocals were teamed with a trance like instrumental, to  create an image of forgotten dog days and romance, which was emphasised further with the next track; ‘7-Up Days’.

Next to take the limelight was a beautiful acoustic rendition of ‘Tuna Fish’, but then came the turn of the remixes. Oddly enough,  I did really like the ‘Dreemhouse Radio Mix’ of ‘Unemployed in Summertime’. However, the ‘Dreemhouse Mix’, which was the follow up track, did not fit with the genre at all, it wasn’t terrible just out of place and also didn’t leave the original Emiliana Torrini essence which made the album so lovable in the first place. This did put a downer on my opinion of the rest of the remixes which followed, where I found myself with a very strong temptation to click the skip button, but I thought I should give it a fair chance and listen to every track, so didn’t.

The ending track of the album was the ‘Dreemhouse Unemployed Club Mix’ of ‘Unemployed in Summertime’, which was alright I suppose, but honestly I was just glad I didn’t have to listen to remixes anymore.

‘Rarities’ is a beautiful album. I just wished the originals and the remixes were separated, so you could appreciate it better and see the awesomeness which is Emiliana Torrini..
