Our Lost Infantry – Parkin

| On 11, Oct 2010

On first listen Parkin may seem like your typical indie fare, and admittedly, it doesn‘t exactly reject the norms of the genre. Dig a little deeper though, and you’ll find Our Lost Infantry have actually put together something quite a bit smarter than that. Fragmented riffs, a sporadic use of electronics, and some rough around the edges harmonies (not to mention a few surreal lyrics) all come together to create a sense of unease and emotional instability. Of course at times bands can try much, much too hard to achieve this kind of atmosphere and end up producing rubbish. Luckily though, here Our Last Infantry get the balance right. It isn’t perfect, but it does showcase the band’s potential. At the very least, worth a listen.
