THE PUBLIC EMBRACES THE DARING OFFER OF THE SAN MIGUEL PRIMAVERA CLUB 2010 IN MADRID AND BARCELONA

| On 29, Nov 2010

Barcelona 28th November 2010.- Today is the closing of another edition of the San Miguel Primavera Club, an edition marked by the search for bands that until now were unknown in our country (in some cases newcomers to Europe like the Beach Fossils) and promising bands that have only released one album. The result is really positive both in terms of artists and in terms of crowd, with a total of 15,000 visits shared between the cities of Madrid (7,000) and Barcelona (8,000).

San Miguel Primavera Club 2010 has given us some outstanding performances such as Däm FunK & Master Blazter in the Apolo, The Rural Alberta Advantage in the Círculo de Bellas Artes, Tweak Bird in Moog, Josephine Foster in Charada and the brilliant and emotional double performance in Barcelona (in Bikini and in the Casino de L´Aliança de Poble Nou) of Edwyn Collins, two perfect concerts where the crowd was both cheering and crying.

And it doesn’t end here. Triángulo de Amor Bizarro showed, on Wednesday night, in a packed Apolo why they have become one of the bands of the moment with their second album, while the Barcelona band Seward opened the evening with an outstanding and pure live performance. On Thursday the public of Madrid were able to explore different samples of quality music: from the explosive rock’n’roll of The Jim Jones Revue to the robust and colouristic pop of the Finnish band Rubik, along with the techno lo-fi pop of Small Black and the spectacular electronic rock of Holy Fuck. On Friday came Barcelona’s reunion with the Scottish band Teenage Fanclub, and there was also room for the incredible Guadalupe Plata, the long awaited John Grant and the debuts of S.C.U.M and Yuck, all of which were a great success. And yesterday, in the capital of the kingdom, it was the turn of the Catalan bands, from the pop of Fred I Son to the free noise of Homenatges and the floating electronic music of the duo Narwhal.

Whilst waiting for the closing day of the festival with performances by Zola Jesus and Twin Sister, amongst others, in Barcelona and Screaming Females, Jaill, Beach Fossils and Male Bonding in Madrid, it can already be said that the fifth edition of the San Miguel Primavera Club has helped to promote a select group of new proposals to an audience thirsty for fresh blood.
