In conversation with Knock Out Kaine

AAAmusic chats with the great Knock Out Kaine, here’s what we discovered!

AAAmusic: Your genre is pure rock. Do you feel threatened by the ever growing indie scene?

Knock Out Kaine: Threatened would be the wrong word, I don’t think there is a lot of animosity between the two genres, each to there own and just do what you do, you can’t please everyone..so they say.

AAAmusic: Do you prefer British or American rock? Who are your inspirations?

KOK: British, American, Scandinavian, Japanese, whatever, as long as it sounds good we like it. We take inspiration from all over the place, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Motley Crue, Shotgun Messiah, there are truly too many to put down, we salute them all!

AAAmusic: How has winning the Kerrang! Best Unsigned Live Act 2007/2008 award helped you?

KOK: It has helped us in the fact that it spurred us on to work harder. it was an accolade that gave us a kick right up the proverbial Jacksy, and reinforced our belief that we had something good here!

AAAmusic: You have released an EP, how’s the debut album coming along?

KOK: The album is coming on in leaps and bounds and is sounding bitchin’ we are spending a lot of time writing new material at the moment so there is a real creative buzz within the band.

AAAmusic: Would you give your album away for free as many bands are currently doing? What is your view on piracy?

KOK: If you check out our website we are currently giving away one of our tracks, so for the debut album, who knows? We think the piracy scene isn’t going to take off well, with cutlasses and parrots on stage it’s just too much hassle…oh wait..that’s piracy…buy music don’t steal it, it will make you feel better, honest!

AAAmusic: You spent a good chunk of 2009 and 2010 touring Europe and UK. Which city and audience struck you the most?

KOK: The Motor-horses festival we played in Slovakia last summer was amazing, the folks out there really know how to have a good time, the whole Slovakia trip in general was really great.

AAAmusic: You are about to tour supporting Steven Adlers; what other projects have you got in store for 2011?

KOK: So far 2011 is looking up to be our best year yet, from the upcoming tour in Europe, to recording our debut album, to playing Download? To doing our own UK tour and possibly releasing a promo video for Little Crystal, and it’s only January!

AAAmusic: How do you see Knock Out Kaine in 5 years?

KOK: hmm 5 years, well if the world doesn’t end in 2012 then probably doing great!

AAAmusic: You claim you don’t care about being trendy and cool, yet you are. What is it, in your opinion, that makes you so appealing?

KOK: First of all thanks for the compliment, secondly come see us live or listen to our music, it really is that simple!
