New show Abbey Road Debuts feat. James Blake, Mount Kimbie, Crystal Fighters..

From the producers of the ‘Live from Abbey Road’ series, comes ‘Abbey Road Debuts’, a 15 minute weekly show starting on Channel 4 in April. The show documents each artist’s debut at the iconic Abbey Road Studios alongside informal interviews with BBC 6Music’s Tom Ravenscroft.

Abbey Road Debuts’ will run for 12 weeks. Confirmed artists include some of the most exciting and talented new acts around, including: Mount Kimbie, Crystal Fighters, Trophy Wife, James Blake, Lower Dens and Dark Dark Dark. The pilot episode was broadcast in October 2010 with Everything Everything.

The show aims to give new artists a unique opportunity to record at Abbey Road Studios whilst also introducing Channel 4 viewers to intriguing and alternative new music across a variety of genres.

The show will be filmed predominately in Studio One of Abbey Road Studios and three performances will be recorded for each act. The 15 minute show will broadcast two of those, and the additional performance will be made exclusively available online after the session, details to follow.

Like his father – the legendary DJ John Peel – Tom Ravenscroft is a genuine and passionate music lover, known for his diverse playlists on his Friday night 6Music show, he has quietly been carving out a reputation for spotting the best in unsigned, new music.

Abbey Road Studios is an iconic symbol of the world music industry. The studios will celebrate their 80th anniversary this year and are home to countless landmark recordings including The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Kate Bush, Radiohead and U2.

‘Abbey Road Debuts’ are offering fans of each band a chance to join the audience for these intimate recording sessions.
