DUTCH UNCLES New single ‘XO’ released 4th July on Memphis Industries

| On 18, May 2011

“From the XTC school of complex time-signatures, Talking Heads go math-pop” The Times

“A cerebral cut above” Guardian

“One of 2011’s most exciting prospects, full of Field Music style cleverness” The Fly

Dutch Uncles’ 2011 has been one of manifold delights, with their debut album for Memphis Industries, Cadenza, garnering plaudits from critics and fans alike, whilst also seeing sell out shows up and down the country on their first ever headline UK tour.

July 4th will see the release of the single X-O, a reworking of various parts of Steve Reich’s Electric Counterpoint movements; an interpretation which garnered the approval of the composer himself. Not that it’s as cerebral as that sounds. Taking these intricate interlocking rhythms as a starting point, Dutch Uncles weave them round singer Duncan Wallis’ plaintive refrain of “always takes my breath” to form a moment of polished high-pop perfection.

Dutch Uncles will be on tour across the summer with headline dates and festival appearances as follows:
