Seasick Steve to hit Streets of London – Live at Electric Ball Room – 26th May

New Album – ‘You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks‘ – May 30th

I hope you all come, I believe this is for a real good thing. At least, I’m gonna be there‘ – Seasick Steve
Seasick Steve will headline this year’s Streets of London Concert for Homelessness, at London’s Camden Electric Ballroom on Thursday 26th May. Prior to appearances at several major festivals this summer, fans will have the chance to see Steve performing his foot-stomping Delta blues up close and personal at this one-off, intimate club show.

It will be an opportunity for fans to hear some songs for the first time, as Steve will be performing material from his forthcoming album ‘You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks’, set for release on 30th May.

Streets of London is an initiative that raises awareness about homelessness and raises funds for front-line services with some great live music. This will be the second Streets of London concert, following a show in March last year by ‘Sweet About Me’ star Gabriella Cilmi at the ICA.

All proceeds from the night will go to The Connection at St Martin’s, a day centre near Trafalgar Square that provides specialist support to more than 200 homeless people each day.

Speaking about his appearance at the event, Seasick Steve – who has previously experienced homelessness himself – has this to say: “I hope you all come, I believe this is for a real good thing. At least, I’m gonna be there”.

Two specially commissioned short films will be screened at the show. These films challenge preconceptions about homelessness by showing those affected as individuals in crisis rather than stereotypes. They show that many of the situations that force people into homelessness are things that could happen to any of us.

Bill, a businessman who slept rough for a period, says this: “For anybody who says it could never happen to me, I can tell you I had the same sentiments and it did happen to me. You can never tell what’s round the corner. It can happen to anybody.”

Seasick Steve will be playing at the Streets of London Concert for Homelessness at Camden Electric Ballroom, London, on Thurs 26th May.

Tickets £22.50 from Ticketmaster, Ticketweb, Seetickets, Stargreen.
