Alvin Risk & Tittsworth: ‘Two Strokes Raw’

| On 25, May 2011

Singer and producer Alvin Risk’s talents have earned him his rapid ascendance, quickly receiving acclaim from fans, critics and artists alike for his inimitable and varied style. Defying any kind of categorisation, his music is charged with irrepressible energy and innovation. Since first posting his songs just months ago, he has garnered support from massive DJ’s like Skrillex and Steve Aoki, even featuring in Pendulum’s BBC Radio One Essential Mix.

Now firmly placed at the forefront of electronic music as one of the most unique and sought after talents around, he continues to win fans over across the globe with each new track that surfaces. His back catalogue continues to grow steadily with a host of original productions and collaborations as well as remixes for artists as diverse as Matt & Kim, Designer Drugs, Ali Love and Jamaica. He has also recently released the highly anticipated ‘Two Strokes Raw’ EP on Plant Muic, a collaborative effort with revered producer and fellow DC resident Tittsworth.

The aforementioned EP is an outstanding collection of innovative electronic music, touching in turns upon rave, house, electro and Moombahton while always sounding utterly unique. The hyperactive amalgamation of the emergent sounds of Moombahton with an array of different high-octane club sounds provides for frenzied energy levels in a dramatic call to arms for club goers. Driven by thumping kicks and lilting percussion, the riotous sirens, sinewy synths and heavy basslines drive the tracks home with force. Leading the EP is the monstrous and inventive ‘Pendejas’, which had been getting people hot under the collar for a while even before its release and quickly became a club anthem appearing on Dave Nada’s ‘This Is Moombahton’ compilation for Mad Decent with its marching soca bounce, driving bassline and ferocious sirens. Winning such unequivocal praise as ‘Massive, original and inspiring’ from Plump DJs, and with support from the likes of Diplo and Toddla T to name just a few, this EP has been doing some serious damage on dance floors worldwide.

As for what is next, Alvin Risk has no intentions of letting up. This unpredictable talent will continue to innovate, challenge and defy expectations with what is round the corner. The future may well see him return to his roots as the front man of an electronic rock orchestra.
