Two Winners in the Genero.TV Video Contest

“a genuinely beautiful record…” -Uncut

Following the release of The Middle East’s debut album ‘I Want That You Are Always Happy’, stand out track ‘Jesus Came To My Birthday Party’ saw its release on August 1st through Play It Again Sam. The band worked with popular video website Genero.TV in connecting with independent film makers to run a contest for their officlal video. The band tried their best to select only one winner from the entries but couldn’t do it so instead settled on two.

The two winners were Andy P and Rob & Rob:

Andy Pearce is a short filmmaker and photographer from the Australian countryside and a recent graduate from Sydney Film School. He films on his family farm, using neighbours, friends and family as cast. He’s very passionate about music and images, and believes creating music videos is the perfect way to pursue these passions. He recently won another Genero.tv competition, where his video was chosen as Duran Duran’s official video for Before The Rain. Rob&Rob are Robert Brandon and Robin James. Two filmmakers from Essex, UK who grew up together in numerous bands and spent far too much time trying to make themselves look cool and not enough time learning to play the instruments. After years of musical failure, Rob&Rob put down the guitars and simply concentrated on making other bands look ‘cool’ via promos. Prior to being announced as a winner for The Middle East competition, Rob&Rob also had a video on Genero.tv selected as a finalist for Alex Clare. Rob&Rob have now swapped cutting reels for cutting mutts and are currently living in Austria working as professional dog groomers.
