Kurt Vile to play UK tour this coming week, plus special release announcement to come soon

| On 03, Sep 2011

It’s hard to believe it’s only been six months since the release of Smoke Ring For My Halo, the remarkable and widely-adored studio album by Philadelphia’s Kurt Vile. It has proved itself to be a word-of-mouth album, beloved by musicians (peers such as Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore, J Mascis and Bradford Cox) and critics, all of whom have been lured in by his unique songwriting.
Understated and possessing a rare elegance.” The Fly 4/5
A thing of strange and reluctant beauty.” NME 8/10
This is a gem.” Q 4/5
Revelatory.” Uncut 4/5
A meditative set of hypnotic pop with a folk heart.” MOJO 4/5
Frequently sublime.” Stool Pigeon 4/5
Kurt and his band The Violators have only played the UK once since Smoke Ring For My Halo‘s release in March, but that all changes this weekend when he returns for a short week-long tour, culminating at London’s Scala, his biggest headline show to date. For those lucky enough to be going to End Of The Festival, Kurt Vile & The Violators will play on Sunday afternoon. Afterwards, he will be make an appearance at Rough Trade’s pop-up shop for a signing session.
