| On 06, Sep 2011

To release ‘Slackerpop’ on Flexi Disc and Specially Recorded Download EP on 31st October

Having recently announced forthcoming tours with Young Guns, Taking Back Sunday and Manchester Orchestra; THE XCERTS are now ready to reveal that they will be releasing single Slackerpop in support of the shows on 31st October through Xtra Mile Recordings. The single will be available as a very limited edition Flexi Disc with each disc containing a unique download code to retrieve a specially recorded five track EP of stripped back recordings produced by Paul Steel and mastered by Ed Woods (Manic Street Preachers, Idlewild, Reuben…).

Flexi Disc’s are much like a standard vinyl record but made of a thin, flexible vinyl sheet designed to be playable on a normal phonograph turntable. They were popular in the 70’s & 80’s and used as a medium for magazines to give away music to their readers. The track listing for the free EP is as follows:

1.  Slackerpop

2. ‘Gum’

3. ‘He Sinks.He Sleeps’

4. ‘Young (Belane)’

5. ‘I See Things Differently’

Speaking of the release dates frontman Murray Macleod has said: “Firstly, we are exceedingly excited to announce the re-release of ‘Slackerpop’ The single will be released on flexi-disc which is pretty unheard of these days, but that’s how we do things over here at The XCERTS HQ! This will be a limited edition release of only 500 so be sure to get yours quick. If you don’t have a vinyl player, it’ll make for a nice wall piece. We have many shows coming up and these will be our only UK dates this year, so be sure to come out and say hello.”

displays “…songwriting chops that are matures beyond their relatively young years. All that early promise they showed? Welcome to Deliveryville, population them. –  8/10 Rock Sound

The Xcerts have outdone themselves. This is a record that bands strive their whole careers to write and they’ve gone and done it on the second attempt. Marvellous. –  5/5 Punktastic

“…comeback of the year?” –  5/5 Big Cheese
