Jodie Marie forthcoming single details and ongoing St Pancras resindency shows

| On 18, Sep 2011

Jodie Marie announces new single ‘On The Road’ – to be released on the legendary ‘Verve’ label on 31st October
– London residency and Nerina Pallot tour support

Jodie Marie has played a small number of spellbinding live shows over the back end of the summer, including a tour of the Scottish Highlands, a sold out debut appearance in her native capital of Cardiff,
and a jaw-dropping support show at St Pancras Old Church, London. Jodie is delighted to announce she will be returning to St Pancras in September to play an intimate three-date residency. Heading
into October, Jodie will be main support on Nerina Pallot’s UK dates, before embarking on her first full-scale European tour.
Signed to Decca to relaunch the Verve label, Jodie Marie follows a strong lineage of artists – from Nina Simone and Billie Holliday to the Velvet Underground – and is set to transcend trends and convention with her debut album (produced by Bernard Butler and Ed Harcourt) that is due out in March 2012.

‘On The Road’ will be Jodie’s first single on the classic Verve label. A sauntering, sun-kissed verse, gives little indication of the point at 55 seconds in, when Jodie’s voice rips into the chorus – a gutsy, minor-key soul number – and in that instant something quite extraordinary happens as a new vocal talent lays down her marker with devastating effect.
Raised in Narberth, Wales – isolated and disinterested in the pop charts – Jodie Marie was brought up on a diet of blues and Bonnie Raitt, leading her to a soulful and genuine sound. Discovered by Transgressive Management (the team behind Johnny Flynn, Foals and The Noisettes) when Toby L’s father was on a trip back to his hometown in Wales. Speaking about his son’s involvement in the music industry over breakfast, he was instructed by the landlady to check out the local plumber’s daughter’s music. Whilst the quality and substance of Jodie’s songs bring to mind greats such as Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Tim Buckley, her style is truly original and the emotional depth of her writing belies her mere 20 years of age.
