Filligar to release ‘The Nerve’ on November 28th

November 28th sees the release of ‘The Nerve’ from American quartet Filligar. A confident and accomplished album, ‘The Nerve’ features 14 stomping rock anthems, full of soul and depth.
Harking back to the classic songwriting of The Rolling Stones, with the intimacy and lyrical prowess of Wilco and the roots rock of The Band, ‘The Nerve’ is an instantly accessible collection of modern rock songs with impressive musicality and creativity.
From the outset, ‘The Nerve’ starts as it means to go on, with the anthemic ‘Robbery (Shocking Love)’. Showcasing Filligar’s musical dexterity and penchant for creating solid hooks, the opener blends seamlessly into the piano-led sing-a-long of ‘Guilty Good Intentions’. Forthcoming single ‘Health’ is a full on rock n roll anthem, with nods to the hazy days of the 60s and 70s, but full of modern urgency. Other album highlights include the impassioned ‘Ticket Line’, which displays a slightly darker side to the band, and the classic revivalist stomper ‘Resurrection Song’.
Having developed their sound since their formation, ‘The Nerve’ sees the band creating a cohesive and mature album which owes much of its authenticity to influences from both sides of the Atlantic.
Despite this being the first studio album from the band to see a release in the UK, ‘The Nerve’ is Filligar’s eighth full album since forming in 2000 – despite no member of the band being older than 24! Comprised of brothers Johnny, Teddy and Pete Mathias and childhood friend Casey Gibson, the band have developed into a prolific and inimitable force in rock n roll. Regularly selling out large venues across the US, as well as supporting huge acts including The Black Keys, Filligar are as engaging live as they are on record. The band also received a fantastic reaction after their performance at this year’s SXSW festival.
The release of ‘The Nerve’ follows an extremely successful live debut in the UK, in which Filligar played a series of dates. The band are planning a full tour for early 2012 and cannot wait to play more shows across the country. Singer and guitarist Johnny says: “We had a great time hitting the road in the U.K. this past summer. It was short and we just barely got our feet wet, so we can’t wait to head on back for a second round”.
