The Moth & The Mirror – Honestly, This World

| On 06, Nov 2011

Honestly, This World and its 42 minutes of classic indie come as a refreshing surprise. Melancholic and  energetic, Stacey Sievwrigh’s sensual pitch accompanies well-structured compositions that, despite their minimalism, will stick in ears and mind.

The Moth & The Mirror’s formula is simple: blend wisely the dark atmospheres of Editors with the tidy crescendos of God Is An Astronaut’s post rock; add a voluptuous voice and the result will be doubtless charming.

The Glaswegian are clearly still green fruit, exceeding with naïve refrains, as in Fire, and still not capable of handling the beats slow-down, as with Beautiful Creature and Hope Is An Anchor, partially failed attempts of sounding a bitter version of countrymen Delgados.
That said, the path ahead for this Scottish six-piece is long yet sun-kissed. Their crystal clear class will lead to a bright future.
