To celebrate ‘Rant’ – The Futureheads fifth offering – hitting shelves today, they’ve recorded a video of them performing old sea shanty ‘Hanging Johnny’, the album’s hidden track, and it can be watched below. Their 10-date acoustic and a cappella UK tour also kicks off today in Brighton.

‘Hanging Johnny’ perfectly reflects the band’s attitude to ‘Rant’: Four voices coming together in modern times, appreciating a near-forgotten musical tradition and putting their own spin on it.
The Futureheads embark on their UK tour today and as those that caught their set at St. Pancras International last month will know, it’s not just going to be an evening of tight harmonies and acoustic guitars. With an underlying punk attitude, a good dose of humour and wonderfully imaginative versions of their own songs, it’ll be much more than that.
