The elements for a Levellers single are in place, high energy violins and folk instruments backed up by a full band. Indeed, having only heard a limited amount of their previous hits, I would have initially said that this sounds similar to the rest. However, there is something different to this track; firstly, it opens with a strange mechanical keyboard sound, like something off a muted Chemical Brothers track. For this reviewer, the stand-out feature on ‘Truth Is’ is the seemingly Beatles-esque chord changes that feature from the off, and this in a Folk-Punk foot stomper. Levellers have been in existence for nearly 24 years now, and this track demonstrates those years of experience with a pleasant aplomb.
