DUB PISTOLS

‘ROCK STEADY’ FEAT RODNEY P + LINDY LAYTON
(SUNDAY BEST RECORDINGS)

From Dub Pistols’ fifth album ‘Worshipping The Dollar’, the easy vibe of ‘Rock Steady’ – featuring Rodney P and Lindy Layton (Beats International) – arrives in time to soundtrack a busy London bank holiday weekend as they play parties at Bookstock and Notting Hill Carnival. The band has several more shows lined up across Europe, before flying in from Space Ibiza for a profile set at Bestival on 8th September.

Barry Ashworth and his motley crew created their latest long-player in between gigs every weekend following the release of acclaimed 2009 album ‘Rum & Coke’. ‘Worshipping The Dollar’ sees a return to lyrical themes explored on earlier albums with deeper and more conscious lyrics and a pacier feel to the tracks.

Dub Pistols were justifiably voted the Best Live Act at DJ Mag’s Best Of British Awards at the end of 2011, and following a non-stop festival run (that included Camp Bestival, Glade, Lounge on the Farm, Larmer Tree, Standon Calling, Boomtown Fair, Beathearder), have been nominated for Best Live Act at the 2012 AIM Awards. Their raucous live shows have been celebrated by festival audiences across Europe this summer, adding to their already devoted fan base.

‘Worshipping The Dollar’ tracks were featured on Rolling Stone, NME and Discobelle, including the video for ‘Alive’, which was created around images contributed by fans through Instagram. The notorious ‘Mucky Weekend’ video almost didn’t see the light of day as the production team allegedly got found themselves on a little mucky weekend of their own at the post-shoot party. ‘Mucky Weekend’ was also chosen for Amazing Radio’s annual remix competition, currently underway at amazingradio.co.uk/competitions/remix.
