Due to phenomenal demand London promoters Soundcrash have moved the July 13 launch party for LA artist Thundercat’s new album, ‘Apocalypse’ from Village Underground to the larger York Hall in Bethnal Green. In addition the acclaimed Heritage Orchestra have been added to the bill, joining Thundercat, Throwing Snow, Slugabed and Kutmah for what is one of the most mouth watering line-ups in London this summer.

Said Rob Waller of Soundcrash, “Tickets have only been on sale for 2 days but we’ve been blown away by the response, it’s been an absolute feeding frenzy! Thundercat’s only played London twice before, once with Flying Lotus at The Troxy and once for a huge Fabric one off and his new album is incredible so this was always one of the most eagerly anticipated shows in the Soundcrash office and it would appear the public share our excitement!”

“I do believe that hip-hop can be the new jazz, and I’m helping create that” – Thundercat

Soundcrash is proud to present LA bass virtuoso Stephen Bruner, aka Thundercat, at this very special one-off London show to celebrate the release of his Flying Lotus produced LP ‘Apocalypse’, released this Summer on FlyLo’s own Brainfeeder Records.

With his debut album, the universally acclaimed ‘The Golden Age of Apocalypse’, marking him out as one of the music scene’s most innovative players Thundercat returns in confident form with what is sure to be one of the albums of 2013.

An energetic, imaginative performer Thundercat has earned his position touring the world whilst working with an impressive list of artists, from members of LA’s vibrant underground beat scene through to global stars such as soul legend Leon Ware, Erykah Badu and Snoop Dogg.

More than just a gig though this will be an event to remember, a celebration of great music and joining Thundercat will be some of the most exciting acts around today.

Since his debut on Alexander Nut’s Ho-Tep label, former Astrophysics student Throwing Snow has been busy making a name for himself with remixes for the likes of Gold Panda, Sinden and Eskmo, acclaimed releases on his own Snowfall label and one of the best live shows around. A favourite of everyone from Gilles Peterson and Benji B to Mary Anne Hobbs and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, Throwing Snow’s irresistible beats make him a very welcome addition to the night’s lineup.

Also joining us will be Bath’s latest and greatest musical export Slugabed. His debut album, released last year on Ninja Tune, combined the best of today’s bass music with a distinctly melodic approach and some outrageous 80’s synths earning him widespread critical acclaim. A busy 2012 touring the world has turned him into a live force to be reckoned with and a dab hand at getting a crowd moving, we know you’ll want to be down early for this guy.

Finally we have Kutmah, one of the first and most important players in LA’s forward thinking, tripped-out electronic hip hop scene that produced the likes of Flying Lotus and Gaslamp Killer. Now based in London, Kutmah has quickly established himself as one of the most in demand DJs in the city with his own show on the independent NTS radio station. As anyone who has seen him play will agree, a very special DJ and the perfect choice for this very special night.
