KICKSTARTER FUNDING CAMPAIGN SET TO REACH TARGET

The South London music and arts festival that started in a back garden is on course to becoming the first festival in the world to be creatively controlled by the public.

LEE DENNY’S masterplan to hand LeeFest over to the people is fast becoming reality, with over £47,000 pledged so far from ‘backers’ who have chosen to help the festival double in size whilst remaining non-profit and sponsor-free. Backers are to receive exclusive rewards in return, including a place on the ‘Campfire Cabinet’, the festival’s board of directors.

The campaign, which comes to an end on Wednesday afternoon, has received global attention. Support in the UK has come from ITV & MTV news, as well as artists such as Mystery Jets & Delphic. Rob Da Bank, music industry giant, has named himself a ‘big fan of independent festivals like LeeFest’, and Bastille front man Dan Smith urged his fans to give their full support to an ‘awesome small festival’.

If the £50,000 target is met, LeeFest will host a celebration party at a secret London location for everyone who has backed the project.
