The Pack AD-9376 (2)

AAAmusic: Who are you and where are you from?

We are The Pack A.D., a two piece drum and guitar duo. We started in 2007 in Vancouver and lo, we are still here.

AAAmusic: What inspired you to get into music?

Hanging out with friends. Literally. We were hanging out with two other friends and we all decided to be a band. Becky already played guitar. Everybody picked what they would do and I got left with the drums. So, I learned how to play and we all did this band for a Summer. The band ended, but we kept going.

AAAmusic: What have you done?

We’ve been nominated for a Juno in Canada (our equivalent of the Grammy). We’ve made and released five albums. We’ve opened for Arctic Monkeys, Cage The Elephant, Incubus, AWOLNATION, Holly Golightly, fun., Black Mountain and more. We’ve gone on tour with Our Lady Peace, The Sadies, Nomeansno, Pink Mountaintops and more. We’re about to go on tour supporting Alice and Chains and after that supporting Man or Astro Man.

I’m proud of everything we’ve done but mostly just playing shows. It’s the best part of what we do.

AAAmusic: What are you like live?

We put on a loud, fast, punk-esque show. People dance, mosh, crowd surf, and scream…a lot. It gets sweaty and if you’re not getting sweaty, you should have your sweat glands examined.

AAAmusic: What makes you different?

I really don’t know how to answer that question as I am not a public relations person. Uh. We both play with our hearts. A lot of emotion and interaction with the crowd. We’re all in this together.

AAAmusic: Physical vs Downloading vs Streaming…How do you listen to music?

I listen to vinyl at home. At this point, it’s the only way I really listen to music. I think Spotify and iTunes are great for people, but, for me personally, I loathe computers so it’s not how I get my music. But I have no problem with any way you get it, as long as you get it.

AAAmusic: What have you been listening to?

St. Vincent, Holy Wave, Goat, Frank Ocean, Dirty Projectors, La Femme, Quasi, The Julie Ruin…

AAAmusic: What are your aspirations for the future?

Tour, tour, tour, and enjoy life.
