Levi’s Craft Of Music With Aidan Moffat, Austra and Fiction at Dazed Live – 9th April 2011

| On 05, Apr 2011

Levi’s® Craft of Music joins Dazed Live

Dazed & Confused and Levi’s® celebrate forward-thinking talent at XOYO

Saturday 9 April 2011

5.01pm

Following the success of Levi’s® first Craft Of Music session for 2011 at its Regent Store earlier in March, with Rox and The Joy Formidable, Levi’s® Craft Of Music will relocate on Saturday 9 April to XOYO, the most exciting new performance space in Shoreditch, as part of Dazed Live.

On Saturday 9 April Dazed Live will bring together an array of inspiring artists, thinkers and advocates from the Dazed cultural network across a selection of East London venues. Accordingly Dazed Live is the perfect temporary home for Levi’s® Craft Of Music, a series of exclusive, acoustic performances and Q&A sessions.

Taking place at XOYO from 5.01pm, Levi’s® Craft Of Music presents performances from a cross section of new and legendary music talent.

Domino, a label with an uncanny ability for discovering new talent over the years, recently announced its latest signing, Austra. This hotly tipped three piece, formed and fronted by Canadian-born Katie Stelmanis, combine electronics and operatics to create dark, charged, electro pop will appear on the bill at Levi’s® Craft of Music.

Joining Austra will be the rising stars of leftfield indie, South London quartet Fiction. Their recent single, ‘Big Things’, loaded with riffs and melodies that will occupy brains for days has marked them out as one of the most exciting bands to watch in 2011.  Fiction’s unique live show, that sees the band’s members exchanging instruments throughout, will be a welcome addition to the Levi’s® Craft Of Music stage.

The final act on the bill is the legendary cult icon and former front man of Arab Strap, Aidan Moffat. After spending the 90s and the early 00s reworking the landscape of Glaswegian indie music, with a blend of musical storytelling and caustic wit, Aidan is back making music. With his UK tour already sold out, this is a rare opportunity to experience this captivating performing in such close quarters.

Levi’s® Craft of Music was originally launched in August 2010 with a mini-series of six gigs across two weeks and proved a hugely popular format. Artists including Carl Barat, Beardyman, Lissie, Bass Clef, The Magic Numbers and Chilly Gonzales showcased and discussed their craft to a handful of lucky music fans. The runaway success of these shows inspired Levi’s® to run the series across all of 2011, with Dazed Live being its first foray outside of its Regent St. Flagship store.
