The Wombats- exclusive performance new album ‘The Wombats proudly present… This Modern Glitch’ on April 9th

| On 06, Apr 2011

“For me, there has been one record, of late, that’s been so ecstatically uplifting and bursting with classic modern pop tunes that it’s elevated me out of any slump, funk or sluggishness I might have been feeling at the time. Believe it or not, it’s the new Wombats album. Maybe Murph is the new Prozac after all.” – NME

“A modern pop primer bursting with potential hits… reminds you just how thrilling and sharp-edged narrative pop can be.” – Sunday Times Culture

“A joyous, infectious pop album full of uplifting melodies” – The Fly

To celebrate the release of their forthcoming second album ‘This Modern Glitch’The Wombats will be hosting an exclusive live performance and full album playback at Leaf Café on April 9th at 5pm in their hometown of Liverpool.

Over the last 2 years we have rehearsed, written and recorded demos in our practice room in Liverpool. When we needed a coffee and humus break sustenance was provided by the cafe downstairs which at the time was the ‘LEAF’ Tea Shop” says Matthew Murphy. “It’s been a while in the making but we are finally on the cusp of releasing our second album and figured a celebration was in order so we booked a pretty cool room in LEAF where we can listen to the whole of the new album in it’s entirety, really loud, and play some songs live too. We hope everyone will don evening attire and come down to help us to realise that the album really is finished, that it really is coming out soon and that we really are going to feel ropey on Sunday!”

Limited tickets go on sale April 6th at 9am, available in person from the HMV ticket counter, Liverpool 1 shopping centre, or online atwww.hmvtickets.com.  Tickets are £5 each (plus booking fee).

Now, it seems, is The Wombats’ time to shine. Hot on the heels of their two biggest airplay hits to date in the shape of ‘Tokyo (Vampires And Wolves)’ and ‘Jump Into The Fog’, everything is falling into place. Their next single ‘Anti-D’ is set to be another hit when it’s released on April 11th (NME called it a “massive modern day ‘Bittersweet Symphony’”) and the band have also just been confirmed as Friday night headliners at the Lovebox festival.

The April 25th release of their new album, ‘The Wombats proudly present… This Modern Glitch’, will cement the band’s status at the forefront of contemporary pop with a collection of glint-in-the-sunlight perfect tunes – better even than the dancefloor killers of their first chart onslaught.

Often acknowledged as one of the most infectiously entertaining live bands around, The Wombats recently hit the road for a full UK tour that included a majorLondon date at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo. They’re confirmed as Friday night headliners at this year’s Lovebox festival that will be held at London’s Victoria Park on July 15th, and will also play Rockness on June 12th.
