Swedish soaring pop duo The Sound of Arrows release their gloriously skyscraping new single ‘Nova’ TODAY on 12″ vinyl & download through Geffen! With remixes from Tiesto, II Figures and the excellent Esben & the Witch, Nova in it’s various forms has been a blog & club staple for a few months now, but none of the reworkings compare to the stunning dreamscape and vibrant pop explosion of the original track and it’s accompanying gob-smacking DIY video.

Returning to the pop fray this spring, ‘Nova’ is the first single to be taken from The Sound of Arrows hotly anticipated debut album, to be released on Geffen later this year. When we last left them, the Swedish duo of Stefan Storm and Oskar Gullstrand had just released their debut UK single ‘Into the Clouds’. This time, for the appropriately named ‘Nova’, The Sound of Arrows aim not only for the skies, but seemingly the very stratosphere itself. Indeed, as Storm sings wistfully about escape and his restless longing for “something better” (“if I stay in this place, every hour is another day”), a lush orchestra of synth beams, effortless melodies and symphonic beats whips up around him, creating an instantly infectious and heart-swelling anthem in waiting for our modern times.

Remixes on the track include the glitchy spaced out II Figures version:

Esben & the Witch’s dark and brooding sepia-toned take:

And Tiesto’s huge club hit:

And this is but a tantalising glimpse into what The Sound of Arrows have planned for the rest of the year – with the debut full length in the can and their set at Lovebox commencing a slew of live dates and festival appearances for the summer, 2011 could very well be theirs for the taking.
