Pose Victorious – Beneath The Lighthouse

| On 05, Jun 2011

Melodic, tuneful and addictive.  That’s a basic summary of Pose Victorious and their second E.P entitled  Beneath The Lighthouse.  The Scottish band’s work from start to finish is near enough a masterclass, satisfying anyone with a taste for rock, indie and even pop-punk.

Kicking off with Try Harder, the band sound almost Blink 182-esque with an intro that wouldn’t sound out of place on one of the California rockers albums.  The song goes from strength to strength with all the instruments working perfectly in unison, nothing sounds out of place which is a rarity for newer bands.

The whole EP continues in the same vein, albeit in a more indie tone.  The bouncy pace of High as the Sky makes the track instantly likeable, whilst Off The Rails is a perfectly crafted indie song covering typical rock n roll subject matter as the title might suggest.  Whichever song you listen to from the EP you can relate to another band.  For instance elements of Foo Fighters’ Everlong can be heard in the guitar and drums in Run To The Sea, however Pose Victorious take the song in a completely different direction, showing that their influences don’t turn their songs into carbon copies of their favourite acts.

With the EP due out on sale on the 6th of this month, this is something all indie fans should look for.  Whether your taste is Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon or anything tuneful, you’ll take a liking to Beneath the Lighthouse.
