8 months on from the release of their acclaimed debut album ‘WHB’, We Have Band return with new single ‘Visionary’. This will be the first release from their eagerly anticipated second album, due early 2012. Ahead of its official release on the 7th of November, ‘Visionary’ is now available as a free download from the band’s official website and Facebook.

Melancholic pop at its finest, ‘Visionary’ combines muted horns, taut rhythms, a twanging bass line, and that sublime interplay between the band’s bittersweet vocals that so marked out their debut. A bold statement of intent this is a clear indication of just how far WHB have come in the past year and a half.

Talking about ‘Visionary’, Dede Wegg-Prosser (vocals, percussion, sampler) said; “Visionary has at its centre the story of a dislocated, disorientated Los Angelean. Someone struggling to come to terms with himself and the world he finds himself in. Someone who wants to change and doesn’t know how to achieve that change. Someone who pleases but doesn’t really want to please. Someone wanting to leave his stamp on the world but without really knowing how to.”

Completing the package, Thomas WHB has also turned his hand to two extended remixes that strip ‘Visionary’ down to its more dynamic elements whilst adding throbbing synthesizers that perfectly captures the pulse of the dance floor.

With WHB’s second album set for release in early 2012, ‘Visionary’ reveals an increasingly confident group, one that once ‘wore their influences like a flak jacket’ but has now found a truly unique sound of their own.

As Darren Bancroft (vocals, MPC, percussion) explains, “Musically we wanted to make a record that was deeper and fuller than we had done before, with sounds that were more about warmth and a realness.

Thomas Wegg-Prosser (vocals, bass, guitar, programming) “Lyrically we wanted to make an album that reflected the intensity of our lives over the last few years. By relationships that have come and gone, by the distance we have felt from home, by the physical and mental states we have inhabited, by the people we have been thrown into proximity with.”

Recorded on tour, at the band’s own studio in Hereford and the Flesh and Bone Studios in London, the album was produced by ex-Clor member and Foals producer Luke Smith and We Have Band and mixed by Ben Hillier (Doves, Horrors, Blur, Elbow).
