Breton – Edward The Confessor

| On 21, Nov 2011

Breton look set to be ones to watch out for in 2012, as they put a unique spin on the traditional notion of a “band”. This group are a mixture of musicians and indie film makers, which is easy to spot after you watch the must see video for their first single.

A mixture of photography and moving film- this video, which is shot in black and white aims to capture the frustration and anger of youths on a council estate in London. The video completely achieves its aim- the result is a gritty, realistic piece of film work that manages to complement the music of Breton rather than take over it. This song has elements of electronic and even a bit of pop while maintaining an alternative/indie edge- perhaps this is more to do with the styling of the band rather than the music, but either way Breton have produced something a bit different- a rather deep and dark song with no shortage of hypnotic beats to keep your foot tapping along.

B- side Kensington System is another solid track- there is a disco element to this song, with the grungy bass line and harmonics giving this track a cool vibe. Breton are sure to win over many fans with this release before the imminent album release next year which could propel them to new heights.
