Taffy are a quartet of fresh air in the world of guitar bands drifting all the way from Japan. ‘So Long’ is their single and an exhibition of power pop. Female-fronted vocals lay subdued in the mix as the theme of ‘So Long’ fluctuates between contemporary pop punk and late 90s Britpop. Whilst one guitar subscribes to simple chorded punk, the other plays a jangly rhythm that compliments like a Sir. The beauty of melody is displayed on the record as despite only a handful of the lyrics being clearly audible, it gives you something to remember.
Taffy are undoubtedly an exciting band whose mystery through an interesting concept and limited exposure makes it extra special.
