German duo Me and My Drummer are launching their new single ahead of the releasse of their full-length album The Hawk, The Beak, The Prey. This small sample that we have is already compelling, and speaks volumes about the band’s potential. You’re A Runner is a stunning piece of pop music strung together by Charlotte Brandi’s crystalline, airy voice. A tension-filled melody which nods to both The XX and early Florence and the Machine fills our heads immediately, and won’t leave it for some time. The lyrical scenario is preoccupied with the desperate logics of the heart, of which the brilliant ending muses “If you can break it there, you’ll break it everywhere”. On the strength of this single alone, Me And My Drummer are already one of the most exciting acts of 2012.
