This week the Minnesotan hip-hop collective of Doomtree bring us ‘Bangarang’ in the hope of reaching out to European audiences in line with their continent-spanning tour with Yelawolf.

Doomtree’s reputation of aggressive, innovative production is echoed on this single as the division between rap and punk is so brilliantly mastered. All seven members’ influence is clearly heard as each verse offers something different over the swirling synth and hard-hitting beats.

A literate brand of Midwestern rap backed up by this infectious number is certainly a good enough reason to give it a listen regardless of your standing. The intriguing video featuring Har Mar Superstar is worth a watch while you’re at it too.
