Mirrorkicks @ Barfly

up the stairs of the Barfly, and swinging open the door, I was confronted with the sound of the Electric Fusiliers. This four piece immediately set the bar for the rest of the night. There sweet guitar riffs were complemented beautifully by the Barfly’s cosy atmosphere. They were playful, and had a sound I like to describe as post punk new era grunge. A great opening band and start to the evening.

Next up it was the turn of the Mirrorkicks to take the stage. This four piece of indie pop rockers immediately got the crowd moving. They had a electro influenced fun loving sound, which was nicely complimented by the front man’s rather amazing falsetto, a similar sound to that of Mute Math. Even though the front man did get drowned out by the rest of the band a few times, I liked what I could hear and I can honestly say I have been fully converted to the sound of the Mirrorkicks.

The final band of the night were The New Governors.. This indie rock four piece were amazing. They had a lovely sound which I just fell in love with, and couldn’t help but dance to. The front man shared similar vocals to that of Two Door Cinema Club. These guys are definitely one to watch.

A truly amazing night.
