Australia Prog rockers UNITOPIA to tour the UK

| On 09, Sep 2010

Festival season is coming to an end.  After highlights such as Download, Sonisphere and High Voltage, there is one more treat to come.

Highly proclaimed Australian band UNITOPIA arrive in the UK in October to play the SUMMERS END festival in Lydney in Gloucestershire.
Including bands featuring members of Marillion, It Bites and the Flower Kings, it promises to be a very special 3 days of music.
UNITOPIA have very quickly become a big band in the prog universe following 2008’s critically acclaimed album The Garden. The band won over an army of fans who enjoyed their beautiful yet energetic fusion jazz, rock, symphonic and world music.
Their latest album ‘Artifical’  has been described “ever more symphonic, dynamic, intricate, and deeply thought provoking….It is intensely rich in musical and lyrical creativity and sounds just as epic.”  (Jeff Perkins, Music writer)

Mark Trueack (vocals), Sean Timms (Keyboards/backing vocals), Matt Williams (Guitars/backing vocals), Tim Irrgang (Percussion) remain from the original line-up preserving the original and innovative sound of the band, while David Hopgood (Drums) and Craig Kelly (Bass) are new recruits.
Saxophonist Peter Raidel can’t make this tour and has been temporarily replaced by Ian Richie.
Singer Mark Trueack says “I think its going to be a fun tour, and as two of the members are very new, we have not had time to think about the journey ahead. Also, as Sean and I are originally from the UK, it’s going to be quite nostalgic, playing to cousins that we have not met.”
