Nicholas Stevenson’s debut album ‘Phantom Sweetheart’

| On 25, Nov 2010

Phantom Sweetheart appears on Halloween 2010 when the clock strikes midnight and the moonlight catches it at the right angle. The newest offering from Hilldrop Records comes from the direction of half illustrator, half American, half feral Nicholas Stevenson and promises to send you on an all-enveloping ghost train ride through the psyche.
Throughout the record Nicholas displays a talent for summoning arresting melodies and lyrics that can work their way into your internal dialogue for days on end, a quality that has earned him support slots with the likes of Alessi’s Ark, Frank Turner and Mumford and Sons.
Phantom Sweetheart first began to materialise as a set of fuzzy and intimate bedroom demos, now metamorphosed with the addition of his trusty backing band and a layered production. These songs appear in their transformed states alongside new material and other sounds dying to come out. Nicholas Stevenson’s storytelling will steer you on a splendid séance through songs about kid’s parties, parallel places, mystical people, infuriating lecturers, imaginary houses, a comet, but not quite, and of course, the ever-elusive spectral sweetheart.
Phantom Sweetheart is out via Hilldrop Records on October 31st 2010 and will be available from Amazon, iTunes and independent record stores across the UK. The song ‘Tip Toes’ is available for free download from www.musicglue.com/nicholasstevenson, myspace and www.hilldroprecords.co.uk.
