South-east London producer Sam Howard, aka Halls, has released new single ‘Solace’ on http://hallsmusic.net
The single is available as a download including two new tracks, ‘Colossus’ and ‘Brave New World’
‘Solace’ builds upon Howard’s recognized micro-sample foundations before being enveloped by a bounty of beautifully warped strings. Adding to this his haunting, ethereal vocals lead the track into a shrouded texture reminiscent of a picturesque sonic forest. ‘Colossus’ then allows the fragile nature of his voice to carry the weight of his work even further, with shuffling percussion and heavy bass lines piling on a distorted pressure before the track breaks into ghostly tundra. ‘Brave New World’ then becomes homage to that aural wasteland – a Tim Hecker-like drone permeating the air to give a wonderfully fulfilling sense of accomplishment.

As taken from the words of This Is Fake DIY, Halls is already being described as ‘the most exciting electronic artist around’, with his recent remix of Gold Panda’s ‘Marriage’ featuring on the ‘Marriage EP’, alongside Baths, Star Slinger and Forest Swords.
