Having more than quadrupled its volunteer base in less than three years, Orange RockCorps is back on an even bigger scale for 2011 with a brand new venue, to treat 11,000 more volunteers to a phenomenal one-off live concert featuring an incredible line-up, in exchange for donating just four hours of their time to charity work.

Confirmed to headline, jetting in fresh from their Screamadelica European tour and playing their biggest hits are the incredible Primal Scream. Doing it like a dude, the phenomenal Jessie J also joins the bill, as well as the fantastic Eliza Doolittle and many more artists to be announced soon in this, Orange RockCorps biggest ever line-up

This year’s programme continues with a series of four-hour projects set throughout Greater London. As part of the regeneration plans to showcase London on the world stage, 150 volunteer projects spanning 32 London boroughs will be launched, with volunteers earning their tickets to the concert at Wembley Arena.

Stephen Greene, CEO and co-founder of RockCorps, commented: “We are going to Wembley!  We couldn’t have believed how the people of Britain would respond when we first came to the UK, but here it is – we are going to THE iconic British venue.   The interest in Orange RockCorps has been phenomenal – and we roll on summer for what will be an incredible year.  From UK legend Primal Scream to of the best of the new artists, Jessie J and the brilliant Eliza Doolittle, we are just thrilled by the support. And this year – the public tells us what to do, what issues and we will get to work on it with an army of volunteers.”

Head of Sponsorship for Orange, Andy Pearcey added: “Orange RockCorps is a fantastic initiative and one that we’re thrilled to be part of. We’re all really excited about 2011 in what will be Orange RockCorps biggest year. We wanted to reach out to a broader audience this year and we’ve got a phenomenal line up at the Wembley gig which we think will appeal to a variety of musical tastes. Orange RockCorps is for everyone and with You Decide and The Collective people from every corner of the UK can get involved and give four hours to make a difference in their community.”

New in 2011, Orange RockCorps announces the launch of You Decide, an initiative which invites people across the country to choose which national issues are supported and which volunteer projects will receive an army of volunteers.

This year’s launch will showcase the ‘You Decide’ issues – Education, Health & Well-being, Conservation, Sports & Play, Music & Arts and Communities – with an extravaganza of projects taking place on the floor of Wembley Arena. The products of the day’s work will be distributed into the local community with the help of Brent Council.

Orange RockCorps will also continue to expand regionally through The Collective – the program that celebrates all volunteering activity and rewards members across the UK with fantastic music related prizes. Furthermore, by downloading the brand new Orange mobile phone application Do Some Good, people everywhere can do a good deed at a time and place that suits them using their mobile phone, building up points to become part of the Orange RockCorps Collective.

Since its launch in 2008, Orange RockCorps has increased its volunteer base from 20,000 to more than 90,000 gaining an unparalleled reputation for encouraging young people to get involved in volunteering. So far over 300 charities in Britain have benefited from the help of Orange RockCorps, a figure that continues to grow year upon year.
