That Ain’t Classy , from Hand Shakes and Middle Fingers , a hip-hop album about balance, is the first significant international single from Canadian rapper Classified, released from New York’s label Decon.

Classified looks back and examines how he has changed and what he has become. The song is a statement of what he represents and he combines jazz and R&B with the hip hop. He tries to look realistically at the lives of celebrities and criticises ostentatiousness and extravagance. How different people deal with success is of interest to him. He condemns the excesses and the get rich quick philosophy of some stars and the lyrics seem well intended but sometimes the meaning is lost in obscurity.

Classified says “I’m the one getting loose Friday night having fun
Spilling drinks on the wifey when I’m a little drunk”. If listeners find this concept of classiness a bit absurd, then they may feel happier to give the recording from this Nova Scotia artist a miss.

Classified will showcase his single and album on stage with a full European tour in autumn 2011.
