Babybird @ The Leicester Square Theatre

| On 19, Feb 2012

London, 11th February

Plus Special Guest The Tricks

First band of the night at The Leicester Square Theatre is The Tricks, 4 musicians from Hertfordshire that hit the road for their first UK tour supporting million-record-selling-artist Babybird. The band really impresses the crowd thanks to their catchy tunes and confidence on stage. Joel Hodge (Vocal/Bass) seems that has been hitting stages for years, making the live versions of the songs even better that the studio ones. The setlist is quite short due to time restrictions but it’s not hard to forecast that this band could be a great surprise for 2012 even listening only to a couple of songs. Especially songs like “Just For The Summer” and “Remember Me” (taken from their double A-Side single) are incredibly attractive as classics songs taken from old jukeboxes around the world, along with another track “Part-time Lover”. The whole setlist seems to be taken from a nice movie soundtrack and I can easily imagine this band playing everywhere with no difficulties. I highly recommend following this band in the next month and possibly watch them at one of their gigs.

Babybird headlines tonight at the Theatre in Leicester square. The band ends the UK tour 2012 with this date after the release of their sixth studio album “ The Pleasure of Self Destruction” in October. Part of the songs played tonight are taken from the latest album, like “Can’t Love You Anymore”, www song” and “I Love Her” along with old hits that made this band one of the most appreciated band in the UK indie scenario of the last 20 years. Stephen Jones (vocal) is really in shape tonight, taking also time for some funny and sarcastic jokes. The crowd seems to be very enthusiastic of Jones’ attitude, and although there’s no space for one of the band’s biggest hits “You’re Gorgeous”, people leave the theatre still singing great tracks of the night such as “Bad Old Man”, “Back Together”, “Goodnight” and “Corner Shop”.
