Maybeshewill – Red Paper Lanterns

| On 11, Mar 2012

Maybeshewill’s new single Red Paper Lanterns from their latest album I Was Here For A Moment Then I Was Gone, is as ethereal as it is punchy. Their entirely instrumental breed of post-rock is one that has stunned audiences for years and, by the sound of this single, will continue to do this for a while. The title track begins sparse to end epileptic, and all of this is done with just the right amount of arpeggio and tingling keyboards. The instruments layer tastefully to create surreal atmospheres; while follower Rain is an unexpected blow back into reality. A short epigram of mighty, dizzy epic-ness, introduced by a clear piano line that almost tricks you into believing it’s going to be a quiet one. An intense, boldly beautiful single.
