AAAmusic: Who are you and where are you from?

My name is Mike M. [of Hollis Brown]. I am from Queens, New York City.

AAAmusic: What inspired you to get into music?

Pretty girls and The Beatles inspired me to get into music. Seems to be the same with everyone. It is hard to sum up your influences in a few words because we are influenced by everything and everyone, even if we don’t know it.

AAAmusic: What have you done?

I like to think more about what I haven’t done then what I have done. I extremely proud of this band, and the record we made called “Ride On The Train.” I am proud to be affiliated with a great record label like Alive Records.

AAAmusic: What are you like live?

We like to play high energy, true grit, American Rock n’ Roll. We are a guitar based band with a strong rhythm section.

AAAmusic: What makes you different?

We are different because we have great songs in an era where a band is lucky to have a couple good songs. We feel every song on this record is solid. No filler or bullshit. No smoke and mirrors or gimmicks, we play our instruments and don’t rely on fancy lights or backing tracks.

AAAmusic: Physical vs Downloading vs Streaming…How do you listen to music?

I am a vinyl guy. When I’m home I listen to strictly vinyl. I don’t use Spotify or Pandora etc. It’s not that I am against them or anything I just haven’t gotten around to it I guess.

AAAmusic: What have you been listening to?

I’ve been listening to that new Charles Bradley record. I like The Buffalo Killers and Kurt Vile’s stuff. I don’t really listen to much new music though. I was watching the Billboard Music Awards last night and wanted to throw up. There wasn’t one redeeming quality there between Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. Let’s face it, most new music sucks. Prince did come out at the end which made my night.

AAAmusic: What are your aspirations for the future?

We want to come to Europe. It looks like it’s going to happen pretty soon. We just want to play as much as possible get the chance to make another album together.
