Full Line Up for Basement Jaxx Orchestral Show

| On 07, Jul 2011

Basement Jaxx present a live soundclash with the Netherland’s “Metropole Orkest”, conducted by renowned London composer/arranger Jules Buckley, at the Barbican in July.

For two nights, in the Barbican Hall, the 70 strong orchestra will be joined by singers from Basement Jaxx’s legendary live shows – London’s finest, Vula Malinga & Sharlene Hector, and, from California, Brendan Reilly and the vocal powerhouse that is Lisa Kekaula from garage-rockers, The Bellrays.

Special guest vocals come in the form of Le Gateau Chocolat, star of London’s cabaret scene, performing Jaxx material for the very first time.

There will also be dance performances from US jookin’ sensation, Lil Buck, and London dancer, Jennifer White.

Also taking their place alongside the orchestra will be Oli Savill aka DoGbEåTs, the Jaxx regular percussionist and, for a final touch of epic-ness, the 40 voice Crouch End Festival Chorus.

Finally, Basement Jaxx will be hosting an afterparty on the Friday night in the Barbican’s “Clubstage” space where they will be DJ’ing alongside Grizzly Records’ “WAFA”.

18 months in the making
, this is the music of Basement Jaxx like you’ve never heard it – sweeping orchestral versions of hits including “Red Alert“, “Where’s Your Head At“, “Good Luck” and “Raindrops“, conducted and orchestrated by leading London composer, Jules Buckley, in collaboration with Basement Jaxx themselves.

Featuring many of the singers from Basement Jaxx’s storming live shows and the 70-strong Metropole Orkest comprising percussion, strings and brass as well as the celebrated 40 voice Crouch End Festival Chorus, this is Basement Jaxx heard afresh, their instantly recognizable dance music anthems delivered with a powerful majesty by over a 100 musicians and singers and all staged with the panache and swagger of one of Basement Jaxx’s legendary shows. No wonder that at the recent debut show in Eindhoven they had the audience standing on their feet whooping and cheering.

The evening will also include performances of new material, written by Basement Jaxx’s Felix Buxton especially for this not-to-be-missed event.
