‘For A While’ is out on the 27^th of August and is taken from Alice Russell’s album To Dust. The song is very vocally focused with minimal instrumental details and a simple yet hypnotic rhythm. There’s something about the rhythm that makes the whole song feel almost slow motion; the track starts in a stop and start melody like a skipping record with staccato effect vocals. The vocals are pleasantly soulful; the backing harmony blends nicely with the rhythm and the twinkling instrumental melodies add extra voices to the already layered harmonies. The music video that accompanies the track reflects the qualities of the music, possessing a slowed down, spacey and summery mood. Overall, Alice Russell’s single is very well constructed and certainly worth checking out.
