5 Must-See Acts at Melt Festival 2018

| On 16, May 2018

Melt-2018-Melt-festival-2018-622x415

Melt Festival, located a short distance from Berlin, is situated in one of the most striking sites you’ll ever have the luxury of emerging yourself in at a European festival. With stages spread out on a beach beside an idyllic lake and among the massive industrial machinery of the Ferropolis site, plus hidden within a secret little forest, Melt Festival’s location will have you in awe. With music that perfectly balances mainstream and alternative, the lineup has something from everyone, whether you’re into internationally recognised artists like headliner Florence + The Machine or cutting edge DJs like Answer Code Request. Join us as we count down our five “must see” acts performing this year…

The xx

Our editor has seem them headline Melt before, right at the start of their career, and says they totally smashed it. Their whole aesthetic and sound is suited to the main stage setup and with their latest record and shows incorporating more dance elements, they should manage to easily hypnotise the audience this time around.

Fever Ray

Fever Ray – aka Karin Dreijer from The Knife – is (or are) a live force to be reckoned with. Envisage striking visuals, booming industrial beats and one of the most recognisable voices in mainstream alternative. Definitely one to watch, and who knows how much longer this project will continue…

Moses Sumney

Aromanticism was one of the finest releases of last year – absolutely beautiful. Part RnB, part indie-rock, part soulful folk, and all held together but an otherworldly, Jeff Buckley-esque voice. Moses Sumney relatively low down the lineup this year, but expect him to be right near the top in a year or two.

Cigarettes After Sex

One of the indie breakouts of last year, these guys make oldschool dream-pop that is equally haunting yet deeply warm, and sounds straight from a David Lynch movie. Their self-titled debut topped many end of year Best Of lists, and rightly so. These guys are going to take Melt on a real journey.

Sevdaliza

Alternative RnB at its best, this Iranian-Dutch singer-songwriter is eerily captivating. Her music evokes FKA Twigs, Banks and Kelela, but her approach features a much heavier touch of the avant-garde. Lyrically and visually provocative, expect Sevdaliza to be one of the breakout stars of Melt 2018.
