YEAH SAINT PAUL – ‘Rendezvous’

Yeah Saint Paul use the power of silence in this charming little number: an un-busy collection of simplicity. Subdued whips of the acoustic guitar, distant, folky harmonica and cool, sleek vocals give off the feeling of 1950s Beat poetry. The whimsical whistles also coordinated throughout the track echo charmingly in your mind; catchy enough to guarantee you’ll be whistling it afterwards. There is a certain awareness of Marc Bolan that runs through ‘Rendezvous’ with the jerky, hushed vocals beckoning you along; with a rockabilly twist.
The feeling that arises in one’s imagination is of a sleek, sophisticated jam session off somewhere in a nice warm woodland cabin, hidden away from the world. ‘Rendezvous’ takes you to a place of quirky tranquillity and is ageless in its sound; with simplicity and escape being at its essence. Yeah Saint Paul have made a beautiful toe-tapper with restricted resources; producing something with a real do-it-yourself feel. The un-busy nature of this track is what gives it appeal, and is something that may interest the patient, cultured music listener; rather than those looking for exciting thrills.
